Ports, Past and Present draws both on O’Donoghue’s experience as an artist and on her work in the marine industry. The project aims to use sound as a potential medium to mitigate and rethink the ecological relationship between man and nature. A series of sound artworks will engage with issues relating to wildlife and biodiversity conservation in the Dublin Port area,with a particular focus on the bird population.The artist hopes the project will activate new public engagement, curiosity and appreciation for the environment and biodiversity conservation in Dublin Port. Her project aims to highlight the rich wildlife that exists in the area and to challenge people to rethink their relationship with nature.
